On the 1st, in the opening round of the 31st World Youth Baseball Championship, which was scheduled to be held in Taichung, Taiwan, the national team was scheduled to play Puerto Rico in the first leg, but it was postponed due to bad weather. The match between Mexico and the Czech Republic, which was scheduled to take place earlier, was also postponed due to rain.
National team coach Lee Young-bok, who reported the news of the rain in Taiwan, told MHN Sports, “The games that could not be played on the 1st will be played on the 8th, the reserve day. It’s before. It’s a really important fight.”
The national team also suffered from bad weather at the U-23 World Championships held in Taiwan last year. Despite such difficulties, Lee Sang-young (LG), Yoon Dong-hee (Lotte), and Song Seung-hwan (Doosan) took the runner-up.
Meanwhile, the Group B match held in Taipei continued as it was. The United States beat the Netherlands 2-1 in a sweat, Panama defeated Venezuela 13-4, and Japan finished the first day with a 8-0 victory over Spain.
